2023….The Arete Men’s Group

This new group, offered through the Arete Center by Dr. Peter Goodwin, will be a space where we can offer support, share insights, and explore issues that arise in men’s lives. We will address issues specific to navigating masculinity in today’s world, including ideas around fatherhood, relationships, and achievement.

The purpose of this group will be to help one another discover purpose and meaning, build self-reflective practices, and provide a space to discuss issues that might be difficult to address with those closest to us. This will also be useful for men who have questions about therapy or simply want to discuss difficult ideas in a nonjudgmental, open setting.

Presentation: A Clinical Perspective on White Supremacy

In conjunction with The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Diversity Colloquia. Based on research developed for his dissertation, Dr. Goodwin discussed today's picture of North American white extremism through a clinical lens. This presentation involved an exploration of the psychology of prejudice and hostile persecution, a history of organized white radicalism in America, a brief overview of the study itself, and a discussion surrounding implications and areas for future exploration.
